“Go North” bus tour – Growers and innovators of the Tweed
February 20th, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm AEDT$70 – $80
The Northern Rivers is home to an incredible array of crops, characters and champions, none more so than those in the Tweed region.
What better way to kick-start 2019 than with a hands-on tour to view some cutting edge growing and research sites in and around the Tweed – learning personally from the growers leading the way in avocados, bananas, passionfruit, sugarcane and more. Focussing on biosecurity, new varieties and sustainable farming practices, the trip includes a long table lunch at Tropical Fruit World in Duranbah – featuring delicious food from local farmers and food producers – wrapping up with a tour and tasting at Husk Distillers in North Tumbulgum.
As well as the invaluable information and insight you’ll gain at each stop, and the opportunity to talk and network with fellow growers, you’ll enjoy:
- Visits to Anderson Horticulture Avocado Nursery and Orchard, Peasley Horticulture (passionfruit), NSW DPI (banana variety trial site), Quirk’s Sugar Cane plantation, Tropical Fruit World and Husk Distillery.
- Bus transport to all locations, departing and returning from BrunsBakery (an opportunity to pick up your own coffee and snack to start the day!).
- Long table lunch at Tropical Fruit World, featuring beautiful fresh produce from NRF members and TFW.
- Tour and drink at the soon-to-be-opened Husk Distillery.
The bus tour will start and end at the bus stop outside Bruns Bakery – 15 Fingal St, Brunswick Heads.
