How do we manage risk in our local food industry?
In the past decade most businesses in this region have been impacted by natural disasters in some form. We have seen a deluge of challenges impacting business operations within the region in the last two years – drought, floods, bushfires, and a global pandemic. It is safe to say no one saw a global pandemic coming!!! The year 2020 profoundly changed life as we know it, and highlighted how businesses were forced in a short period of time adapt their operations to survive. In reality, some businesses survived, some even flourished, and some could simply not adapt.
How are some businesses more resilient during times of uncertainty?
At this stage in 2021, with the end of Job Keeper andJob Seeker subsidies, a housing crisis and a changing tourism landscape, it is a critical time to reflect and identify how businesses adapt to change and crisis. The challenges of the recent storms and floods following devastating fires of the year before, is proof that we cannot go on with the attitude that we can’t plan for disasters, it’s now not a matter of we can’t, we must.
Food resilience survey: we need your input
We need your input to help us develop a picture of how the whole local food & beverage industry plans for and mitigates risks and how to ride the waves in times of disaster. By gathering your thoughts and insights, Northern Rivers Food can build a plan and create actions to help businesses during times of uncertainty. If you know any other food or beverage businesses in your network, please forward this to them – all in the industry are welcome to participate (they don’t have to be NRF members).
